Where one journey ends, another begins
Hanoi, Vietnam – MEET-BIS Vietnam will hold its final conference to highlight its key achievements over the 4.5 years of implementation in Vietnam on September 19, 2013 at Melia Hotel, Hanoi.

The conference will summarize the project’s activities to stimulate energy efficiency and water conservation in Vietnam, using an innovative, private sector-based approach, and assist selected private sector suppliers in developing sustainable commercial markets for their energy and water efficiency products that target SMEs. Positive impacts and influences of the Project in terms of awareness raising, technical consultancy, and enterprise development assistance, as well as the Project’s efforts in building capacity, transfering achieved results to relevant parties will also be presented. In addition, Project’s partners and representatives of the SWITCH-Asia programme will share and learn experiences from each other on promoting sustainable production and consumption.

This is also an opportunity for MEET-BIS Vietnam Project to recognize and appraise the valuable cooperation and support of the Project’s partners during the course of implementation. This event also marks the close of the Project. The end of this Project will also open up a new and bright beginning of the commercial market for energy efficiency products in Vietnam, a dawn of a sustainable development era that Vietnamese enterprises themselves and Vietnamese agencies will join hands to build up.

The Conference is held within in the framework of GREEN BIZ 2013 Exhibition taken place in Melia Hotel from September 19-20, 2013. Green-Biz is annually organized by EuroCham Vietnam that offers a platform to discuss Vietnam’s most pressing challenges and to direct Vietnam’s efforts towards a sustainable economy and prosperity for Vietnam. This 3rd Green-Biz event will have the participation of experts in urbanization, transportation and infrastructure sectors. The Conference is designed to comprehensively address the specific challenges in key sectors like: Green Production and Consumption, Resource Management with special focus on Energy and Waste-Treatment. Key issues of the modern society and economy during the transition period will also be discussed in plenary sessions on Green Education and Green Mindset.

Green-biz is an exceptional opportunity to introduce European green solutions to Vietnam. The series of events including a Conference and Exhibition on European Green Business Solution for Vietnams will act as a channel for dialogue between business and the government and create a bridge for relevant Vietnamese and EU businesses.

MEET-BIS project and energy-saving equipment suppliers will participate in the exhibition with two booths showcasing energy efficiency products and distributing documents to promote energy efficiency activities implemented by the Project. Since it could be the last time MEET-BIS cooperates with its partners, MEET-BIS expects not only to exhibit its products but also to share its experience, reports and database it has gathered to further promote energy efficiency use; as well as to connect Project’s partners and businesses who wish to invest in Vietnam.

In the sideline of the Green Biz 2013, MEET-BIS will hold a final business networking event to close the Project and to recognize Project’s partners who have given tremendous support and endless effort for the project. This side event is tentatively held in Hanoi on September 18, 2013.

As an saying goes, “when a journey ends, another begins,” we are all standing at the crossroad and have many ways to move forward, but let’s choose the bright direction leading us to the sustainable development even it is a tough way, because after a journey ends, another will open up and show us how to reach the destination. The end of MEET-BIS project could be the beginning of another one, which could be within the SWITCH-Asia Programme or funded by other donors, or it could be the beginning for Vietnamese businesses, agencies, and associations themselves to develop their own green economy strategy.

MEET-BIS Project welcomes all partners to participate in the upcoming activities in September 2013. Latest information will be continuously updated via the project’s website.
